The Way of the Voice part 1
Growing up in the 90's, choosing a course based on purely on talent or passion was not always the obvious path. Creative pursuits were often encouraged as hobbies, but not necessarily as a career. So I followed the practical path.
But somehow, the things I avoided, naturally gravitated towards me and kept finding their way back to me - speaking, performing, storytelling, connecting with people, and communicating ideas. Looking back, I think clues were already there. I just didn't know yet that communication would eventually become the work I wanted to do.
Eventually, life had other plans - and somehow blew me straight into the very industry I once tried to avoid, music and the arts.
I left the pursuit of engineering, and founded Rockman Studio, which began as a simple band rehearsal space and eventually grew into a music and video production studio. What started as a creative venture became my doorway into working with artists, performers, and people who wanted to express themselves better. That journey eventually led me to GMA 7 Artist Center, where I became one of their coaches for voice and hosting.
The Way of the Voice part 2
In 2013, I joined Greenhills Prime Toastmasters Club - an organization that helps its members develop their communication and leadership skills.
It was in Toastmasters where I truly fell in love with speaking. My club was made up of young entrepreneurs like me who also wanted to become better speakers, and it created such an inspiring environment to learn, practice and grow.
I eventually served as club president for a year and went on to become the Division A Champion in the International Prepared Speech Contest.
Those years became my training ground. It was where I learned the art of public speaking - how to structure a message, tell stories, connect with an audience and speak with purpose.
What started as a desire to become a better communicator eventually became something much bigger. It became a career I wanted to pursue.
